How a Leaf Became a Tree

Thank you for visiting The ELM Project!

(formerly known as Camp AmeriKids)

The mission of The ELM Project is to enhance the lives of youth living with the challenges of HIV/AIDS and sickle cell disease by providing an enriching summer camp experience, year-round skill building and a supported transition to adulthood.

How a leaf became a tree…

Camp AmeriKids was founded in 1995 as a residential summer camp program for children living with HIV/AIDS. Since then, we have grown into an organization that serves even more young people through the addition of a teen leadership program and most recently, a mentor program for young adults. To better represent the various opportunities available, we have adopted a new name that encompasses the breadth of our programs.

This is a big step for us, driven by the positive growth of our organization and our goal to better serve our youth.

Thank you for your continued support of our organization.
